Google Tips for Entrepreneurs

Many business entrepreneurs look to Google for help in promoting their Internet business. Several features that can be used to your advantage include AdWords and increasing your placement in the Google search results. The key to AdWords is setting up your advertisements properly in order to gain impressions and clicks on your advertisements. The ads you run in your campaign should be tested and tweaked on a daily or weekly basis. You should also run two to three ads at a time and analyze the impressions and clicks each ad yields.

In most cases, you should only change one element of your advertisement at a time and then run another test. The reasoning behind changing one element , is that it will help you pinpoint areas that are effective and ineffective. Although tweaking one item at a time is the suggested course of action, there are instances when you may have to overhaul the entire ad. For example: assume you have an AdWords ad that gets impressions, but zero clicks. Receiving zero clicks is a good indication that an ad needs a rewrite.

Another obvious feature is placement in the search engine listings. One way to improve your placement on the Google search engine results is to link with webpages that have a high PageRank. Strive to find a website that has a high number of back links from other well-ranked sites within Google. If the back link is not indexed in Google you will not receive credit for the link; Google won't recognize the link as being valuable.

Remember, Google looks for valuable back links; the more you have, the higher your placement in the search engine results. Google also has a great program to aid you in tracking your sites progress called Google Analytics. Analytics is powerful, free, and provides a wealth of information and parameters.
