Google Adds One Billion Pages To Index

In an announcement that is very interesting due to
timing, Google announces that they have added one billion pages to their
index, an increase of 33%. They now claim to have over 4 billion pages
indexed.
The timing of the news is interesting for two reasons:
1) Yahoo! dumping Google
2) Google's impending IPO
Our question is where did this influx of pages come
from? Has Google just been "sitting" on these extra pages? According
to the log files of the hundreds of domains we track, GoogleBot's activity
has greatly slowed over the last 30 days.
Update: Google publicly
annouces it wasn't a one billion page increase, but a THREE billion
page increase. Google's index doubles overnight. |
