Breaking Web Marketing News Yahoo! Site Match -
To Be Dropped?

August 5, 2004

Due to slumping sales and pressure from the market Yahoo! may drop their Site Match program which is a combination of paid inclusion and pay-per-click.

The program, which is a beefed up version of Inktomi's old paid inclusion program may revert back to the old days. Meaning, the PPC portion of the program would be dropped and there would be just an annual fee for inclusion.

For large companies, Site XChange was the answer (the former Trusted Feed), but for smaller companies, the cost of inclusion and the PPC were too much and many small businesses dropped out quickly due to being billed for less targeted traffic.

If Yahoo! decides to go this route, we would welcome it and begin to recommend their paid inclusion service again.
